It has always been a goal of bikedance teams to pass on the torch to the younger generations. Well the bikedance mavens, THE SPROCKETTES, did just that. Last weekend they help their girls bikedance camp and here is their official performance.

Nerds On Wheels @ MBW09

Nerds On Wheels was a group that worked the hardest to prepare for MiniBikeWinter09.
They practiced for 7 months to pull off the 35 minute musical parody of The West Side Story featuring the Cockettes and Lame Reaction. This is particularly exciting because they made so much fun of the formerly serious bicycle dance world. The crowd went wild. They said things everyone had thought but couldn't say because the Sprockettes and Chain Reaction are so endearing.
I have a feeling this performance broadened the scope of bicycle performance and has given the licensce to non-dancers to think of new innovations.
The dancing was not synchronized on purpose, except at the end with a stunning rendition of Thriller. They tried to arrange souveniers for the audience, including playbils and pink and black painted condoms with the words Lame Reaction and Cockettes on them. They also made sure that the expiration date was still visible. These kids showed that D.I.Y. talent is rampant and there is no limit to how much fun can be experienced.
They should be performing the show again, because the demand for it was so poular.

Come out to the post-apacalyptic Ace Junkyard to celebrate the triumphant return of the world’s premier bicycle dance team, The Sprockettes. These hot pink and black clad cyclists have taken it to a whole new level with dance routines performed on, with, or about bikes. They have been working hard for the past four years to bring a new branch of dance to the history books. Since their inception in 2004, they have inspired many more pedalpushing troupes including three in Canada and one in England. The newest on the roster is The Bay Area Derailleurs, who are joining The Sprockettes for a bike bash beyond belief. Heavy Pedal Cyclecide will be setting up their pedal powered amusements. Local darlings Double Dutchess
jumprope team will royally astound you with their slick moves and stamina. For your audio-entertainment we present to you the enigmatic ladies of Grass Widow. Space Madness will release a fusion of rock, blues, and mathamatic mayhem upon the crowd, and Here Comes A Big Black Cloud means the thunder storm is coming. Show starts at 5pm and goes till midnight.

My Sprockettes Blog

The Sprockettes are an all-female minibike dance team.
You might think this unusual, but since our inception in June of 2004, there have been four other bike dance teams spring up into existence.

So here's a roster of the synchronized bike dance teams by now:
*The Sprockettes, Portland, OR June 2004
colors: Hot Pink and Black
*The Different Spokes, Portland, OR 2005
colors: all one color, like the brakes.
These guys got together for a performance with the Sprockettes for the N.A.C.C.C. (North American Cycle Courier Championships. They had all kinds of bikes from minis to tallbikes. They performed to Lil' John's "Are you fucking with me" song. That was their only performance.
